Strategically, Marston Vale benefits from an excellent location:  it lies close to the M1, is a short distance from both Bedford and Milton Keynes, sits within the Oxford to Cambridge technology ‘arc’ and is close to Cranfield University.

These locations provide a wide range of employment opportunities ranging from business services to research and development including highly skilled jobs in the engineering, aerospace and electronics industries.

Our proposal for Marston Vale will build on these qualities and assets.  The proposal is to create a settlement which has a transport strategy to support sustainable patterns of movement.  Complete containment is unrealistic but the settlement will aim to deliver higher levels of live-work balance than other settlements across the UK.  Where commuting is necessary, the most sustainable modes will be facilitated and encouraged.

The economy at Marston Vale may include environmentally friendly industries such as commercial wood production, market gardening and biomass fuel production that will move towards the goal of a self sufficient community.
